I hear ya, as it happens to me sometimes too. I find it just makes it easier if I come across something somewhere, that I check to be sure of the artist's TOU's first, before I proceed with anything, although it can be difficult if your not sure of who the artist is, & then in that case, I try to just leave it then, till I find out for sure. Okay, cool, on letting you know, & hey, I make mistakes along the way too, so right there with ya :)
That's okay, I figured you didn't know, I went to linmida's site yesterday, & she does say to add her link back to her site on all of her work you make with her tubes. Also, even though you found that dog in public domain, doesn't always mean it's always free, as most, if not all artist's don't want anyone merging their artwork with another artist's, although I've come across one's that don't care, but they are far & few in between, it's good to always check the artist's TOU's to be sure, & if it's not in their TOU's, then I'd ask to be certain, hope that helps. Be careful using it on other sites as well, cuz if the artist/s finds out, they may not be a happy camper/s. Your welcome for letting you know, thanks for getting back with me :)
