This image was uploaded by jenny_86. Don't you just hate someone who's right all the time? Someone who never does anything wrong. Someone who sets themselves above others? It can seem natural, that when it became clear that Jesus claimed to be a King, and more: the Son of God, that people would ridicule Him. To Christians, this picture represents the ridicule which Jesus not only underwent in Jerusalem, as He drew towards His death, but which as God, He endures every day - even now. People around the world, far away and nearby, ridicule the idea that Jesus can make a difference to them now, today. That His teachings could work for them. That being good, even to the point of loving your enemy, can have anything to offer. But even though He was ridiculed, Jesus carried on giving himself to the end. His purpose in all this was to help those who ridiculed Him. For this reason the artist shows him passive, not answering back. Yet the sky is a heavenly blue, radiating into the very building He is in - to show that Jesus is coming into His kingdom, that heaven is coming down to earth. As a final touch the artist makes the steps golden as befits the throne upon which Jesus the King sits. |
