Maybe considered atheism might partly result from ignorance? If people searched or responded to truth, they would find it. Only God hath immortality. The gift of everlasting life, John 3:16 is free to those who believe, but only if accepted. The alternative, and by that time, preferred to the lost, will be annihilation and varied, just reaping of life's course of actions. Reading, heeding, or even today, just listening, as in King James Dramatized audio Bible, would reveal these misunderstood plain truths.
I don't much entertain philosophy, but a finite mind cannot comprehend eternal things without the help of the eternal. Can everything came from nothingness be logical? Would not the first parent have to have a parent before, have to have a parent of some sort before, and so on... God is eternal. He always existed, and only He. He also respects our free will to reject Him, but that spites only ourselves, many will all too profoundly come to realize one day. Walter Veith and Doug Batchelor take on many of these questions very convincingly and eloquently. Hope you find timely truth many already have. There's still the right to hope.
I don't think it's sad or disgraceful or rude either. Putting a cross with an X sign over it is just as mean as putting a cross without one (as in, not at all). It's not saying that people who are Atheists don't respect people who believe in God, it's just saying that we don't believe in it ourselves. Chill out.
I might get trash for saying this, but - the one thing I don't understand is that why is religion such a big topic, such a big argument point? We should have the freedom to choose. Atheists nor christians or any other believers shouldn't get bummed for believing something. Everyone has different views on life. To be strong means to not let others change your opinion. And this is what I choose to believe.
