Chapter 1: Stranger in the Crypt.

It was 1768 when my mother died .I was eight; the man killed her in her sleep and was about to kill me when my father found him. The killer simply disappeared .No one ever told me who killed my mother except that he was a monster, of what kind I would not know until I was thirteen.
That day I was going to my mother’s mausoleum. My father, King Villiam of France, forbid me to leave the castle grounds without his five most trusted guards. Isabella, my maid and best friend, was helping me leave undetected. Jackson, my stable boy, was waiting for me by the castle gates. I quickly got in the carriage and was on my way to the graveyard.
The large ominous gate squeaked as I opened it. I was going past the third row of graves; I could barely see the carriage, when I heard footsteps behind of me. I turned to see a large, black figure fly past me. I picked up the hem of my dress and ran. I finally got to the mausoleum, and quickly unlocked the door and scrambled inside. Slamming the door behind me I caught my breath. I turned to go through the oak door leading to my mother's casket and there stood a boy about the age of 14. "What are doing in here?" I said half yelling because he scared me. "Waiting on you your highness." he replied, his voice was like a flute playing a long, soft, note.
“M-Me?” I stammered, “W-who are you?” “Claudius William Cole at your service your highness.” “P-please call me Elizabeth Sir. Claudius.” “As you wish Lady Elizabeth as long as you call me Claudius we will be fine.” I nodded I could not trust my voice I was nervous and did not want to stammer again. “Now Lady Elizabeth I believe you did not come here to talk to me, go on now and pray.” “Will you be here when I return?” “If you wish it your highn….I mean Lady Elizabeth.”I giggled then nodded. I turned and walked towards the door that leads to my mother’s casket. I pushed opened the large oak door, and then looked over my shoulder, he was still there.”Go on.” He said. “Yes Claudius.” I stepped in and shut the door. I went in and lit a candle that sat on the small stone alter that stood under a painting of my mother, Queen Belladonna. I sat by the cold marble casket, the lid was carved with her image. I prayed that Claudius would still be there when I returned and that mother was smiling down at me for coming even against father’s wishes. I stood there when I was done praying looking at my mother’s carved image.”Mother.” I whispered as I stared at her face, a tear fell. I tried to remember her voice, but I couldn’t. My first tear was quickly followed by a second, then a third. I was then full blown crying. I wiped them quickly away for a princess is not allowed to cry and headed towards the door, but my knees buckled and I fell down crying again.
I sat there for only a few seconds before Claudius came in, sat next to me, and pulled me into his lap. I buried my head into his shoulder and keep on crying. “Hush now Elizabeth; do not cry for I am here now…Your mother wouldn’t want you to cry.” I looked up at him his piercing blue eyes held a single tear. “Okay.” I whimpered and he kissed my cheek. “Elizabeth you never have to be sad when I’m here.” Claudius whispered as he wiped way the rest of my tears. I smiled. “Come Elizabeth your carriage is going to be here any minute your father would be mad if he found you were gone.” I nodded. He picked me up and set me on my feet. We walked out into the early morning sunrise. We walked in silence as he led me to the graveyard gates. They carriage was waiting.”Miss Elizabeth, hurry we must get you to the castle before your father wakes. If he finds out that you were gone he will have both of our heads!” “I’m coming Jackson! Claudius I…”he was gone. I pick up the hem of my dress and ran to the carriage, got in and looked out the window to see if I could see him. He was leaning against the old oak tree that stood near the gate, his blond hair blow in the breeze. He smiled when our eyes meet. He mouthed “Goodbye Elizabeth.” “Goodbye. “I mouthed back. Jackson sped up and we drove out of sight.
