I think I know what you mean.. See the name that you change is ONLY going to be on your profile page. For example I change my name to Laurel:
However, this does not change my account name. I cannot log into my account with the name I changed to on my profile.
I still have to login with the name I originally chose for my account when I first signed up for the site. You can only change your profile's display name. This is not your actual account name, therefore you cannot login with it. I hope that helps you!
I'm not exactly sure what you mean. The only name you can change is the name displayed on your profile page. It does not, however, change your account name.
