“Just put it in, Shane.”
“You’re sure you’re ready?”
“Yeah, I think so.”
“You’re not scared at all?”
“Well, maybe a little. After all, this is my first time.”

“I can’t get it,” he said, struggling.

“Not this kind.” He paused, trying again. “There, I got it.”
Mitchie’s eyes were closed. “So it’s in?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, are you going to start?”
“Mmhm.”
“Let’s just get it over with.”
Shane leaned over and hit the play button on the CD player and the music from Mitchie’s newly recorded demo CD filled the air. Shane sat back, enjoying her soft voice singing in the background.
“Well?” she asked, eager and nervous at the same time.
“I knew you’d be great.”
