So you've been to Big Bear! I'm in Running Springs which is between Arrowhead and Big Bear. Close to Snow Valley.
There are fires raging down at the bottom of the mountain. We had to evacuate last year so glad they aren't up here on the mountain again. The 57 Freeway was closed yesterday because of the fires.
Looks like you are still being evangelized. Wish they would realize that preaching at people like that is just one big turn-off.

If you lived in La Habra, then you know more or less where I live. I'm up by Big Bear! My son and his family wanted to move here about 5 years ago so we sold our homes down below in La Verne and here we are. We love it. He and his family live a few blocks away. Walking distance if it wasn't for the steep climb up here on this mountain.
I honestly think that the Supreme Court will throw out that amendment and that gays will be allowed to marry again. It would never have passed in the first place if it hadn't been for the hate and fear tactics in those commercials that the Bushistisas and McCaniacs had put out on TV.
What puzzles me is that I just "don't get it." My last boss was gay and he wrote articles for the L.A. Times and was a college prof. Many of my best friends are gay. We've been friends for years and we have cried together, laughed together and been there for each other. I don't pretend to understand their attraction to the same gender but I don't need to understand. I know beyond any doubt that they love each other and they should have the same civil rights as everyone else. Allowing them to be married harms none and this situation is ridiculous! Once in a while we go to a movie and they sit there talking about how "hot" the female star is in the movie and I drool over Johnny Depp or something. They are in love and I really don't understand how anyone else is hurt in any way if they are alowed to marry. Fear and hate has no place in civil rights laws! They moved out of the state of a couple of years ago and now they are living back in the closet because, they do not live in a right to work state and they can be fired if it is found out that they are lesbians.
NOBODY has the right to judge them. NOBODY!! They are good, honest, caring and loving people and what they do in their private lives is nobody else's business.
I'm sure they will eventually get the same civil rights as everyone else. The religious nuts don't have to associate with gay friends if they think it rubs off or something. Not that long ago it was illegal for a black person and a white person to marry in many states. Those laws were dealt with and the laws about gays and lesbians will eventually go the same way. In the meantime, the gay-bashing and homophobia in this country make me sick.
I'm 100% convinced that nobody chooses to be gay or lesbian. They are born that way just the same as I was born straight and with brown eyes. It is not a choice and we have no right to take away their right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and to deny them their basic civil rights.
With any luck, Obama will appoint a couple of new Supreme Court justices and that will settle this issue once and for all and gays and lesbians will finally have the same civil rights as others.
In the meantime, I feel heartbroken for the gay and lesbian community. It isn't my right to judge them. I only know that they are 100$ in love with each other and that is all that matters. They come to visit several times a year and stay up here in my house with me. I have 3 bedrooms and it is just me and the dogs and they can once again be out of the closet for the little time they are here.
I'm with you! This discrimination, hate and fear has to stop! I'm sure the gay community must have a few petitions going so maybe you can find them and work with them in obtaining signatures. I'm afraid it won't do any good, though. It will take either the CA Supreme Court or the U.S. Supreme Court to pass laws making it illegal to deny gays and lesbians as others and then it will finally be settled. Maybe then the gay bashing will end.
Good for you. Stick by your gay friends! I'm sticking behind my friends to the end. What has happened here in CA is just so WRONG!!! How can we do that to people just because they are different.
Hang in there, keep reassuring you friends and stand with them and one of these days they will have the same rights as everyone else. I cried my heart out when I watched Brokeback Mountain. It WILL happen and they WILL get the same civil rights as enjoyed by everyone else! Just keep believing and praying that the fear and hatemongers will not win forever.

What is the weather like up there by Sacramento? I'm down by L.A. high in the mountains near Snow Valley and it has been cool. No snow yet, though. Wish it would snow soon. I've had enough of summer. One of my friends says it is supposed to go back up to 100 degrees down below the mountains by Friday.
