Misa Amane (弥 海砂, Amane Misa) is a famous model, singer and actress and has an immense crush on Light Yagami. She usually refers to herself in the third person by calling herself "Misa-Misa" and tends to be hyperactive. She kills as the second Kira in order to attract the attention of the first Kira. Realizing that Kira lives in Tokyo, Misa moves there in order to meet him. She lives in a small apartment which is fully decorated in gothic style, showing her rather eccentric nature. It is from this location that Misa devises to start using her Death Note and enacts her plan to send the videos to Sakura TV. Her motivations are not revealed until she actually visits Light's house and explains her tragic past.

So, maybe you've read some stuff about anime, heard a few things, caught a glimpse on TV, something like that. Or maybe you're already addicted to this crazy Japanese phenomenon, and you'd like to get some other friends addicted (after all, the more people you know, the more anime you have access to!). What might be a good place to start off? That's certainly a valid question, so maybe I can suggest a few things and point out some things that someone getting into anime just might not realize. Let's start out first with a few quick facts about anime.
1.Kodocha Anime, a well-known fansubber, used to have the motto, "Anime - cheaper than crack, but lots more fun". A lot of people think that this is a great way to describe what happens to anime fans, but I think they leave out one important part. It's NOT cheaper than crack! Once you really get into anime, there's enough anime merchandise that you could have the GNP of a small country at your disposal and STILL not have everything you need. That said, it's not impossible to be a thrifty anime buyer. Good deals on anime DVDs are always to be found, and sometimes you can find good deals on merchandise on eBay (unlikely) or at conventions. If you're trying to get someone addicted, take care not to mention any of this until AFTER they've started buying things on their own, and if you're thinking about watching some, just remember to keep control.
2.Anime is a Japanese creation, and as such is best experienced IN Japanese. Many people seem abhorred by the prospect of watching anime in Japanese, but it just takes a few tries to get used to. Dubs have the tendency to be radically changed, especially by companies like ADVision, and you can get a whole different view of a character from watching the dub and the sub separately. Plus, if anything, watching subtitles will certainly speed up your reading time for English.
3.Giant mecha, tentacle porn, Pokemon, comedy, cute girls. None of this is anime in a nutshell (well, maybe the cute girls), but each of them is a part of anime. Most people don't realize that anime is a very broad medium and includes all of these things as well as much more. Cater to your tastes, watch things that sound appealing to you. Descriptions of practically any anime title are available online, and many places even list shows by genre. If comedy just isn't your style, there are plenty of dramatic series out there, in every flavor, to suit your tastes, and vice versa. And if tentacle porn IS your thing, well, you've certainly come to the right place!

→BLEACH:Bleach is an anime series that follows the life of a 15 year old boy by the name of Kurosaki Ichigo. Ichigo is not any average boy; he has the ability to see and communicate with ghosts and spirits. This stems from his other unusual trait: awesome, untapped Spiritual energy. Ichigo does what he can for the spirits he meets, until a Hollow (evil soul spirit) attacks him and his family. To the rescue comes a female Shinigami (Death God) named Kuchiki Rukia. Rukia chases the Hollow off, and is astounded by the fact that Ichigo can see her and the Hollow, which most mortals cannot. She explains that Shinigami have two duties: to lead the “Pluses” (good souls) to their rest in Soul Society, and to exterminate Hollows, who endanger them. All Shinigami carry a Zanpakutou, or Soul Slayer, with which they can release the Pluses and kill the Hollows. These Zanpakutou resemble katanas in their shape and size. The Hollow comes back at this point to menace the pair again, and Rukia is badly wounded. She thrusts her Zanpakutou into Ichigo’s body, intending to transfer enough of her power into him to enable him to destroy the Hollow….except his soul takes all her power, and combines it with his own, which enables him to dispatch the Hollow with ease. Thus begins Ichigo’s journey, as high-school student and part-time Death God! →OURAN high school host club:Haruhi Fujioka is a scholarship student at the prestigious Ouran Academy, a fictional high school located in Bunkyō, Tokyo. Looking for a quiet place to study, Haruhi stumbles upon the Third Music Room, a place where the Ouran Academy Host Club, a group of six extremely attractive male students, gathers to entertain both males and females "clients" (one male client entertained so far). During their first meeting, Haruhi accidentally knocks over and breaks an antique vase valued at ¥8,000,000 (US$80,000 in English manga) and is told to repay the cost in service to the club. Haruhi's short hair, slouching attire and gender-ambiguous look causes her to be mistaken by the hosts for a male student (at first). The hosts all agree that Haruhi would be a good host, thus making her join the host club. Ultimately she agrees to join the Club as a host herself (dressed as a male) in order to pay off her debt. She agrees to join since she does not mind hosting as long as she can pay the debt off faster. The Ouran Private Academy encompasses kindergarten to twelfth grade. Most students come from wealthy families but, in special cases, merit scholarships are granted to exceptional students from a lower income bracket. The school's unofficial motto is "Lineage counts first, wealth a close second," meaning students with stellar family backgrounds are given top priority over those from rich families but low social status. →DEATH NOTE: Light Yagami is an extremely intelligent young man who resents what appears to be a relentless increase of crime and corruption in the world around him. His life undergoes a drastic change when he discovers a mysterious notebook, known as the "Death Note," lying on the ground. The Death Note's instructions claim that if a human's name is written within it, that person shall die. Light is initially skeptical of the notebook's authenticity, but after experimenting with it, he realizes that the Death Note is real. After meeting with the previous owner of the Death Note, a shinigami named Ryuk, Light seeks to become "the God of the New World" by passing his keen judgment on those he deems to be evil or who get in his way.
Soon, the number of inexplicable deaths of reported criminals catches the attention of the International Police Organization and a mysterious detective known only as "L". L quickly learns that the serial killer, dubbed by the public as "Kira" (キラ?, derived from the typical Japanese pronunciation of the English word "killer"), is located in Japan. He also concludes that Kira can kill people without laying a finger on them. Light realizes that L will be his greatest nemesis, and a game of psychological cat and mouse between the two begins →SCHOOL RUMBLE:School Rumble is a romantic comedy that depicts the daily lives of students attending the fictional Yagami High School Class 2-C, their friends and their families. The manga uses exaggerated scenes for comedic purposes, often disregarding reality for the purposes of gags. Sometimes an entire chapter can be a setup for one joke.
The main female protagonist is Tenma Tsukamoto, a second-year high school student with no special qualities, who crushes on the eccentric enigmatic nice guy, Oji Karasuma. Tenma finds it difficult to confess her love to Karasuma and he appears oblivious to her romantic feelings being content with a plate of curry. Complicating the narrative is the main male protagonist, Kenji Harima, a delinquent, whose crush on Tenma has developed to the point that he attends school just to be near her. Harima also has difficulty directly confessing his love to Tenma, and when he works up the courage circumstances conspire against him. The attempts of the two protagonists to confess their respective loves are running gags throughout the series. →NARUTO:Ah!Naruto, the most popular anime in Japan(am i right?)Naruto Uzumaki is a young boy who has the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox sealed within him. Twelve years before the start of the series, the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox attacked the ninja village Konohagakure, slaughtering many people. In response, the leader of Konohagakure and its ninja military – the Fourth Hokage – sacrificed his life to seal the demon inside Naruto when he was a newborn. Konohagakure, however, regarded Naruto as if he were the demon fox itself and mistreated him throughout most of his childhood. A decree made by the Third Hokage, who replaced the Fourth Hokage after his death, forbade anyone mention the attack of the demon fox to anyone. Years later, Naruto is tricked by the renegade ninja Mizuki into stealing a forbidden scroll, but is stopped by his teacher, Iruka Umino. When Iruka almost dies while protecting Naruto from Mizuki, Naruto defeats Mizuki using the power from the scroll, which develops the supernatural ability Jutsu Shadow Clone Technique that creates clones from himself. That encounter makes Naruto realize he was the container of the demon fox. →ONE PIECE:A boy named Monkey D. Luffy, inspired by his childhood hero "Red-Haired" Shanks, sets out on a journey to find One Piece, the legendary treasure of the King of the Pirates, Gol D. Roger. To accomplish this, he must reach the end of the most deadly and dangerous ocean: The Grand Line.
Luffy captains the Straw Hat Pirates first through the sea of East Blue and then through the Grand Line. He follows the path of the deceased King of the Pirates, Gol D. Roger, from island to island on his way to the great treasure One Piece. On his way his crew grows to have a swordsman, a navigator, a sniper, a cook, a doctor, an archaeologist, a shipwright, and a musician.
During the course of the story, the crew contend with both other less moral pirate crews and the Navy. The latter are the subordinates of the World Government, who apparently seek justice by ending the Golden Age of Pirates. Many background story elements involve the delicate balance of power between the World Government and the world's most powerful pirate crews. →SHUGO CHARA!:The heroine of the story, Amu Hinamori, is a student at Seiyo Elementary. At first glance, her classmates refer to her as "cool and spicy" and rumors speculate about her personal life. However, her real personality is that of a very shy girl who has trouble showing her true personality. One night, Amu wishes for the courage to show her "would-be" self, and the next morning finds three brightly colored eggs—red, blue, and green—in her bed. At first, she is alarmed, but realizes she must have really wished to change. These eggs hatch into three Guardian Characters: Ran, Miki, and Su. The Guardian Characters aid Amu in discovering who she truly is and help fulfill Amu's dreams. Amu's life becomes much more complex as she struggles to deal with her "would-be" selves and the Seiyo Elementary's Guardians, who recruit Amu as the Joker to search for X Eggs and X Characters, the corrupted forms of peoples' dreams.
Meanwhile, the Easter Company is extracting people's eggs in search of a special egg called the Embryo. The Embryo is believed to grant any wish to the one who possesses it. However, the process creates X Eggs and X Characters. It is described as a white egg with a heart and yellow wings.
Later on in the series a fourth (yellow) egg is born, this egg contains the Guardian Character Diamond.
→SOUL EATER:One of my favorites! It's not popular yet(i think...?)Set in the Shinigami technical school for weapon meisters, the series revolves around 3 groups of each a weapon meister and a human weapon. Trying to make the latter a "Death Scythe" and thus fit for use by the Shinigami, they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 witch.
Soul Eater is an anime that centers around meisters and their weapons and their mission to collect 99 evil souls and 1 witch soul. Upon doing that the meister's weapons will become a Deathscythe, which is the highest title for a weapon. Maka, Soul Eater, Black Star, Tsubaki, Death the Kid, and Patty and Liz Thompson are the characters Soul Eater revolves around. Besides taking the time to gather souls these students of Shibusen defend Death City from some of the most powerful of creatures while still attending school and trying to become stronger.
