The word "homo" comes from the Greek root which means "same," like "hetero" means "different." Homo(same)sexual(gender/sex attraction). Hetero(different)sexual(gender/sex attraction).
Homosapeins, however means "same man," meaning same species(correct me if I'm wrong), I believe. So homosapeins would be humans.
